URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) ? Michele Bachmann is making a late-hour trek toward her Iowa birthplace as she hunts for support in Tuesday's caucuses, a contest carries high stakes for her campaign.
Bachmann was headed for Black Hawk County to speak at a caucus there. At an event near Des Moines earlier Tuesday, she predicted a surprise showing and dismissed predictions that a poor finish would force her to leave the race.
The Minnesota congresswoman, who was born in Waterloo, Iowa, says she'll press on no matter what. She says her campaign team will hop on a flight to South Carolina on Wednesday "because this election is far from over."
Every recent poll has Bachmann in last place, a far cry from her summer win in Iowa's GOP straw poll.
